The photography of architectural design captures the art and distinct character of a building or structure in an aesthetically pleasing manner. It allows me to capture perspective and context and is one of my favorite types of photography. Click images for more.

The Roman Catholic St. Mary's Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption in Covington, Kentucky, is the only one in the state. Pope Pius XII elevated the cathedral to the rank of minor basilica in 1953.

At the Cathedral

The Roman Pool at Hearst Castle is a tiled indoor pool decorated with eight statues of Roman gods, goddesses and heroes. The pool appears to be styled after an ancient Roman bath.

Azure Bliss

Florence Cathedral, formally the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore, began construction in 1296. The complex is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Da' Duomo

The Art Deco train station, Union Terminal, in Cincinnati opened in 1933 has been an urban history museum since 1990.

Deco Rotunda

City Hall is the seat of government for the City and County of San Francisco, California. It is a Beaux-Arts monument to the City Beautiful movement that epitomized the high-minded American Renaissance of the 1880s to 1917.

Just Married

Alamo Square's famous "postcard row" at Hayes and Steiner Streets is indeed a visual treat. A tight formation of Victorian style houses is back-dropped by downtown skyscrapers, providing a stunning contrast.

Pretty Ladies

We walked into St. James Church almost by accident - it is located next door to a camera store. This church is a beauty in architecture and ceremony.

The Eye

The complex and distinctive interior design of Union Terminal in Cincinnati have earned it several landmark designations, including National Historic Landmark.

The Carbide and Carbon Company, which developed the first dry cell battery, needed a regional headquarters to house its rapidly expanding business. The landmark Art Deco skyscraper was built in 1929.

The Great American Tower at Queen City Square, is currently the third tallest building in Ohio. The building's architect, designed the building to include a top inspired by Diana, Princess of Wales's tiara.

875 North Michigan Avenue, formerly the John Hancock Center, is a 100-story, 1,128-foot supertall skyscraper located in Chicago, Illinois. When built in 1968, it was the second-tallest building in the world.

The Scripps Center in Cincinnati is located in the heart of the business district. Completed in 1990, it is the fourth tallest building in Cincinnati.

The 4th & Vine Tower formerly known as the Central Trust Bank Building is one of the most recognizable buildings in the city's skyline, owing to the elaborate Hellenic architecture in the upper portion of the tower.
